More and more, consumers are seeing CBD oil products marketed for a unique member of the family – pets. This leads many to ask, “Should I be giving CBD to my pet?”
It is indeed possible to supplement your pet’s system with CBD, just as you would supplement your own. That is because all mammals, perhaps all vertebrates, have an endocannabinoid system, the bodily system that interacts with cannabinoids, meaning that your pet can likely benefit from CBD in the same ways you do.
Hemp’s benefits come from the plant’s ability to affect the body’s naturally occurring regulatory processes through interaction with the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for maintaining homeostasis within the body, including regulating the body’s immune response, communication between cells, and appetite and metabolism. Because of this clear link between the systems of humans and other mammals, some owners have started using cannabis-infused products on their pets.
CBD has become the cannabinoid of choice for many of our customers to give to their pets because it is non-psychoactive, non-toxic, and highly tolerable in animals. Since Kannaway products are made with hemp oil that contains only a trace amount of THC, there aren’t any psychoactive effects, making them a safe choice for use on pets.

Some of our customers already give their pets our CBD hemp oil products, but remember, serving sizes will likely be cut significantly based on your pet’s size and weight. It is always a good idea when giving CBD to your pet to start off with a very small serving and work your way up to a higher serving slowly.
Kannaway Premium Hemp Oil: Kannaway unadulterated hemp oils can be dispensed onto your finger and given to your dog to lick off, placed on a treat, or mixed into their food to provide their daily serving of CBD. Because our Kannaway Premium Hemp Oil naturally contains a high concentration of CBD, it is especially important to start off small and increase serving sizes every week or two.
Kannaway Premium Hemp Oil and Pure CBD Liquids: Our CBD hemp oil liquids combine our CBD hemp oil with medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil. This convenient liquid can easily be added to your pet’s food. However, for a creative way to add CBD hemp oil to your pet’s diet, try making them custom CBD-infused pet treats.
By making these treats at home with our CBD hemp oil, you know exactly what is in your pet’s diet and can easily add your desired quantity of CBD for precise serving sizes tailored to your pet’s needs. The recipe below makes approximately sixty treats with about 0.65 mg of CBD each.
