Common Methods for Administering Hemp Treats to Dogs:
Call your pet over to you and pet them gently. Give them 1 or 2 treats to start. The treat should be brought closer to the dog’s face, not waved in the air above him. Hold it just under his mouth or at chest level, where he or she can easily take it from you without jumping or snapping. If your dog tends to snatch treats from your fingers, deliver them on a flat, open palm.
If hemp and marijuana both come from cannabis plants, how is hemp safe?
Hemp and marijuana are two separate varieties of cannabis plants that originated out of different continents. Hemp is technically called Cannabis sativa and originates from Europe. This variety has extremely low levels of THC — tetrahydrocannabinol which is the sole psychoactive chemical in marijuana varieties that produces the high.
Hemp’s natural THC levels are safe as is, but with safe and common breeding & farming practices, hemp’s THC content can be lowered to non-exist levels (0.3% or less). This gives it the legal definition “industrial hemp” which can be legally purchased and used in all 50 states, as well as in most of the world. Think of hemp and marijuana in the same way you think of grape juice and wine.
What is cannabidiol (CBD)?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of over 110 cannabinoid extracts from the hemp plant that is non-psychoactive; meaning, it cannot produce a “high.” It is a natural, plant-based compound that is non-toxic.
Do you test your products for quality and safety?
Yes. CBD Care 4 Pets prides itself in having the highest standards for quality, purity and potency. CBD Care 4 Pets is third party tested for: Cannabinoid Profiling, Pesticide Testing, Microbiological Screening, Terpene Analysis and Residual Solvent Testing and THC Content.
Where do you source your CBD oil from?
Our CBD oil is made with organically grown hemp from Colorado and is 100% free of any synthetic or artificial ingredients. Our Farms are registered with the Department of Agriculture of Colorado.
Will CBD make my pet feel “high?”
No. Your pet will not experience a “high” feeling from ingesting CBD oil. Unlike marijuana, hemp contains extremely low to zero levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound in marijuana responsible for a “high” feeling. CBD Care 4 Pets is non-addictive, non-toxic and non-psychoactive. To ensure the highest standard, CBD Care 4 Pets is 100% THC and certified by 3rd party labs. Our products contain 0% THC.
What happens if my pet takes more than the recommended dosage?
You have absolutely nothing to worry about! There are zero recorded incidences of overdosing on CBD products, yet we still highly recommend you adhere to the suggested dose for your pet according to their weight.
Is CBD Care 4 Pets safe for both dogs, cats and horses?
Yes. CBD can be safely used for both canines, felines and Equines.
Can I use CBD for other animals besides dogs, cats and horses?
Yes, but we recommend that you exert caution and use a small serving to begin with.
Are there any negative side effects?
CBD is safe, non-psychotropic and has no adverse side effects for your furry pets.
What’s the difference between Industrial Hemp and Marijuana?
CBD oil from hemp is not the same as the oil that is extracted from marijuana. The main difference between the two is that CBD oil from marijuana can contain varying amounts of THC. The hemp oil produced from industrial hemp is naturally high in CBD and contains zero traces of THC which makes it safe and non-psychoactive.
What is CO2 extraction?
CBD Care 4 Pets uses a chemical-free CO2 extraction process that uses pressurized carbon dioxide to pull the desired phytochemicals (such as CBD) from a plant. Our process is free of harsh chemical solvents to extract our CBD oil. CO2 extraction is environmentally friendly and non-toxic. It is also considered the most expensive and safest plant extraction method in the world.
Do you offer a return policy?
Yes. Your satisfaction is our top priority, which is why your order is backed by a 90-day money-back guarantee.
Does it contain pesticides?
Our products are 100% free of pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides. We’re extremely careful and source only from 100% organic Colorado farms. And just to make sure pesticides have never come in contact, we routinely have our hemp tested by a third-party for potency and the presence of any toxins/pesticides. You can see the results on the certificate of analysis found on our website.
Key Things to Watch Out for When Purchasing CBD Oil for Your Pet
We mentioned above that choosing the right CBD oil for your pet can be tricky. Here are some things that you really have to watch out for when you’re purchasing CBD oil for your canine friend.
“Hemp 101” Label
As we have already explained above, you really need to be careful when reading the label. It is very rare to read “CBD Oil in product labels. Instead, you will read “hemp oil”. You should try to read some more and look for other terms like “phytochemical-rich” or PCR and “full spectrum hemp extract” as these will indicate that the extracts are derived from whole Cannabis sativa L plants. You may also need to check the ingredient list. If it has both hemp seed oil and hemp oil, do take note of the ‘hemp oil’ part as this is the CBD oil in that particular product.
Source of Hemp Extracts
The source of the hemp extracts should always be clearly indicated in the product that you’re buying. There are certain parts of the US that are well-regarded as hemp haven. For example, Colorado is well-known for its extensive hemp farms. There are also countries that have been growing premium-quality hemp products throughout the years.
Non-GMO, All-natural Ingredients
You don’t want the COD oil you’re going to give to your dog to be laced with harmful chemicals and other substances that may undermine the effectiveness of cannabidial. As such, you should always look for guarantees that the product doesn’t use GINO ingredients and that their product is made of only natural ingredients. If there are certifications from the USDA or even the FDA, then it should be a good sign.
The two most preferred extraction methods for CBD oil are super-critical CO2 extraction and cold press. These two methods of extraction are considered to be the most appropriate and the safest when it comes to retaining as much cannabidiol from the Cannabis sativa L plant.

CBD Oil for Dogs Dosage
As you may have already noticed from our list of the best CBD oil for dogs, each product may actually come with an entirely different dosing recommendation. For starters, the dose of CBD oil is quite dependent on the type of formulation that is available. In our list we presented mostly in oil forms as drops although one is in the form of a spray. Do take note that CBD is also formulated as treats and as capsules.
For example, CBD oil drops can be as low as 2 to 4 drops or as high as 20 drops every day. Capsule preparations will typically come with 150 to 200 milligrams of CBD oil in the form of hemp extracts so your dog can actually take a capsule once or twice a day.
Another consideration is your dog’s size. Smaller dogs will definitely require smaller doses of CBD oil. Likewise, larger dogs will require substantially larger amounts of CBD oil.
However, there are veterinarians whorecommend giving an initial dose of 0.05 milligrams of CBD for every kilogram of your pet’s body weight to be given every day. This can be increased, of course, but should not exceed 1 mg per kilogram per day.
The current recommendation is to approach the dosing of CBD oil on a three-tiered method. The idea is to gradually increase the amount of CBD oil being consumed by your dog over a span of several weeks until the maximum desired levels have been reached.
Here’s an example of how a 3-tiered CBD dosing plan looks like.
• Tier 1 – 0.05 milligrams for every pound of weight to be given two times a day
• Tier 2 – 0.125 milligrams for every pound of weight to be given two times a day
• Her 3 – 0.25 milligrams for every pound of weight to be given two times a day
Putting your dog on CBD oil supplementation can be tricky. That is why we strongly recommend having a chat with your veterinarian about it so you can be guided accordingly. The trick is for you to always start with the lowest possible dosage that can guarantee a response from your dog. Give this over a week especially noting for any side effect or untoward reactions. If none develops you can increase the dose to the next level, again watching out for side effects. 00 this until you’ve reached the desired levels.
Small Dogs – Under 20lbs give ½ treat every 6-8 hours
Medium Dogs – 20 to 55lbs give 1 treat every 6-8 hours
Large Dogs – Over 55lbs give 1 to 2 treats every 6-8 hours
How long does it take to work?
Hemp Treats take approximately 40-60 minutes to enter the bloodstream and between 6-8 hours to exit. If faster relief is needed, check out CBDCARE4PETS CBD Oil — it takes approximately 20 minutes to enter the bloodstream.
1 treat equals 5 mg
½ treat equals 2.5 mg

The hemp we use is grown on family farms in Colorado where it is legal to do so, and is done under the regulations of the governing bodies in those counties. Because we derive our cannabidiol rich hemp oil from our own cultivators, we’ve systematically sought out the most beautiful and healthy hemp for our raw ingredients used in manufacturing. We always test for purity and potency, so even if there is a small variance, it is one that succeeded approval through our rigid quality assurance system. Hemp, because of it’s innate ability to thrive so easily doesn’t require pesticides (the aromatic terpene compounds in hemp can actually act as natural pesticides), fertilizers, or herbicides in it’s cultivation, and requires much less water than standard commercial farming. The hemp we use is grown under the same methods and standards of organic farming, and uses the safest farming practices available.
The CBD hemp oil is extracted through a high pressured CO2 extraction system. To determine the purity and the potency of every batch of CBD oil each extraction is analyzed through a High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) system, a Gas Chromoatography-Mass Spectometry (GC-MS) system, and the methods to test for aerobic organisms, yeast, fungus, E. coli, pesticides, heavy toxic metals, cannabidiol (+ other cannabinoid) potency, and terpenes. With these multiple analyses performed we can weigh the Hemp/CBD extract for making our blends knowing that the cannabidiol content is pure and consistent throughout every batch of Hemp CBD oil we make. Then once our final CBD oil products are prepared we have them further analyzed, once again, for their potency and purity by our partner based out of Colorado, where we adhere to international ISO standards and is 3rd party tested and certified.
